Hey Guys I’m Sarah!

Welcome to Cake on a Plane! I’m Sarah Shiba and this is my travel blog. Here is a little info about me and what inspired me to write this blog.

I’m just a regular ol’ travel obsessed goofball. I am really good at eating cake, finding all things purple, making out with dogs, falling down and getting mysterious bruises, spending too much money, dancing like a maniac, drinking fancy cocktails, and of course cracking hilarious jokes.

I am deeply passionate about the earth and all the living beings on it that are not humans.

You may occasionally see me use profanity surrounding this because it brings me such disgust to see the mistreatment of animals and of our beautiful Earth. With that said, one of my goals with this blog is to use it as a platform to bring attention to this amazing planet in a way that I see it. And hopefully influence change in a positive way.

So I am taking a leap of faith and attempting to share with the world what I have to offer by starting a travel blog.

I have no idea what I am doing, but I do believe that I have a lot to share. I live to travel, and I am lucky enough to have been able to travel to a few beautiful places over time. My thirst for exploration and adventure has opened doors to some pretty wild adventures. (Some more successful than others.) And I want to share with others the wonders of the world I have discovered, the blunders I have been in, and make people realize that they CAN and SHOULD experience the world.

I have recently come to the realization that my life is passing before my eyes and I am missing that feeling of happiness and fulfillment that is what life is all about. Each day evades me as I wish the hours away; only 3 hours until I get off work, only 4 hours until I get to go to bed, only 4 weeks until my vacation…. I have literally been wishing my life away.

In the midst of my existential crisis I took up Yoga and meditation regularly, reflected on my past and present life, and in hopes of making my future the best part of my life yet, I gathered up the courage to finally take action. I quit my job and took a leap of faith on myself that I could and would discover myself.

I took the gamble that the soul searching I was doing would lead me to what I was meant to do; something to bring me fulfillment of mind, body, and spirit.

When asked what would make me the happiest, my response was simple: Travel. A lot. Go everywhere. And share my experiences with people. Everyone. To inspire them, to touch them, to open up all eyes to the beauty of the world and all it has to offer, and to educate them enough about my travel mishaps so that no one else has to make the same mistakes I have!

My wish is ultimately that am able to educate and encourage my readers to take a look at their world from a different perspective and inspire my readers to make travel happen for themselves. I want to open all eyes to the wondrous planet we call home, and hopefully invoke action to save and care for our Earth.

That’s it for me! I hope you enjoy my blog and would LOVE to hear from all of you beautiful past, present, and future travelers! Thank you for stopping by and I hope you find some inspiration from my stories! (Or at the very least entertainment.) Remember, you absolutely can have your cake and eat it too. Make it happen for yourself! Whether that means travel more, start a new project, quit your job, or something else entirely for you. Take the leap!

After all, life begins at the end of our comfort zone.

Cheers!
